Additional Training?
Hello! We're just beginning the process of exploring Clue Labs. We're very interested in using CL, but we are struggling with the tutorials and can't justify the expense until we know that your tools will work in our environment (Cornerstone on Demand with courses built in SL and Rise). I've attempted to contact CL twice via the Contact Us feature but weeks have gone by and still no response. If Clue Labs doesn't offer any training options, any suggestions for a team that has lots of questions but not a ton of time to focus on learning since we're expected to build simultaneously? Thanks in advance!

Hello,

The two training options available are the videos on YouTube and the tutorials on the site.

And, of course, if you run into any difficulties or have any specific questions, feel free to post them here on the forum, we do our best to respond promptly.

Thanks, I've been following the tutorial but cannot get the user input to accurately capture on the downloaded PDF following the instructions given. Help!

Sure, what seems to be the issue? If you want, you can provide a link to your .story file and we'll troubleshoot it for you.

Thanks! How do I get the file to you? I cannot seem to paste anything to this field, including files or pics.

You can upload your file to any file sharing service, such as Google Cloud or Dropbox, for example, and paste the link in your response below. Note that we don't need your entire project, just the slides that you're requesting assistance with.

Ok, so the issue is in your document, not Storyline. The text inside text boxes is rendered as an image, so Storyline does not recognize it as text and can't see those variable references. What you can do is use the native Word table instead of building a table out of text boxes and place the %NumericEntry...% references directly in the cells of the table.

Also, when you create the PDF widget on the website, there is a note saying "Note that variables must be placed in the body of the document, not in text boxes, charts, etc." - this is exactly the case here.

Hmm...so I'm converting a PDF to Word in order to upload it to your site. In your example, you show a very unattractive Word doc as the sample. Are you not able to take on more formatted docs or those built in PDF?

No worries, like I said earlier, it's not the formatting that's the issue but the fact that the text is placed in text boxes (vs. placing the text in the body of the document). For example, here's your file but with the correct placement that will work properly: https://we.tl/t-VFR4TtXL0q

And if you're not sure of the difference between text boxes and body text in Word, there should be plenty of resources on this topic online.

Thank you-alas, your link expired before I could see what you mean.

Actually, I rebuilt the document and tried again and it worked, but I cannot get it to retain the formatting of my original Word upload. It is changing my font color in one section, deleting my copyright notice, and adding a second page. I'm sure that is because of formatting choices that aren't compatible, but not sure how to fix it?
