I want learner display the completed PDF document within Articulate Storyline after the PDF document is created.
I want the learner to be able to display the completed PDF document within Articulate Storyline after the PDF document is created. I understand the PDF document is created and stored in my download folder, which is fine for testing. However, once this course is uploaded to our LMS and someone takes it, then where is the PDF document stored, and how do I display it? I can access it via a file location or a hyperlink within the Articulate Storyline course, but I have to know the file's location. This is typically done for prebuilt PDF or work documents, not PDF documents created on the fly as your PDF Maker widget does. Can you offer some insight here? We will also need to email the PDF document after it is made. This is for a major project I'm working on, so a quick response would be best.

The document is not created in your Downloads folder, it's created in the cloud, and when you download it - your browser takes the data from the Internet and places it in the Downloads folder. So there's no file location until you download the file.

OK, yes, I understand that. From the learner's perspective, who is taking this on the LMS? When they select the download button in Storyline, they can view the document, correct? If that's the case, that is external or outside of the Storyline course, and it would be better if the PDF document could be viewed and emailed from within the Storyline file. Is that possible?

Storyline does not have tools for file viewing or file emailing. What triggers would you use to accomplish that?

Yes, Storyline has the capability, but only for files or documents already created. Those specific files are saved in the course file, which is in a ZIP format (SCORM file). So, this file is uploaded to the LMS. It already has the PDF document within the file structure for access. Note that the data within the PDF document is static and does not change. Your PDF Maker widget does things a bit differently. I can create a hard copy of the PDF and display the variable data within Storyline before downloading. However, I have some courses that have over 50 survey questions, and that would be very time-consuming for the learner to view, especially after answering 50 questions

Sure, maybe I misunderstood something. Please send a link to your .story file with the triggers set up to email an existing PDF from Storyline and we'll see if we can update the code for you to send out the generated file instead. Note that we don't need your entire project, just the slide with the PDF/triggers.
